Who's Bloggin'?
- The Commissioner
- I am a Commissioning Officer with a local authority. I am very new in post, in fact this blog began before I even took up my post. I spent quite some time working in the voluntary sector managing services for adults with learning disabilities. I was involved in person centred planning and service user involvement. I have to admit that I was at times critical of the local authority and the way in which they managed the provision of services. It seemed that they very much reacted to circumstances and had no ideas about any long term strategies for services. It seems that with the appointment of a new commissioning team, they are looking at the idea of adopting a strategic approach. As someone who has been critical of this system from outside I thought that it might make interesting reading about how I am able to go about improving the system now that I am on the inside.
